Shopify to WooCommerce Migration

We move Shopify stores to WooCommerce by turning your catalogue, apps and checkout into a WordPress shop your team can run. Hosting, updates and backups become part of the same plan, because Shopify no longer looks after them for you.

Before we promise any route, we check what your Shopify store can export and what lives only inside apps.

01Choose

Choose what you want to change

Pick one part, several parts or the full move. The plan that appears is a starting point for the call, not a quote.

Where this startsOur store is on Shopify, but we want more control and it needs to sit inside our WordPress site. I am not sure what will come with us.

  • Review of what the Shopify store and its apps hold
  • Catalogue rebuild and variant rehearsal
  • Extensions chosen for each app job
  • Checkout, payments and shipping set up and tested
  • Hosting plan, redirects and launch checks

Check first: Which features customers would miss most if they vanished at launch.

Next: Send your Shopify address and the reason WooCommerce appeals.

    • Export products with their handles, options and image rows
    • Rebuild options as attributes and variations
    • Reattach variant images and check each combination
    • Set up categories to match how people browse

Check first: Which products use all three option slots.

Next: Send a product export and flag the products with the most options.

    • List each app and the job it performs
    • Ask providers what data they can export
    • Choose a WooCommerce extension or custom build
    • Decide what happens to gift cards and codes

Check first: Which apps hold data that exists nowhere else.

Next: List your installed apps and mark the ones customers see.

    • Connect each payment gateway you plan to offer
    • Rebuild tax rules and shipping zones
    • Recreate order and account emails
    • Place and refund test orders

Check first: Which payment and shipping rules differ by country or product.

Next: Share your payment providers, tax settings and shipping zones.

    • Agree who manages hosting, updates and backups
    • Map important Shopify addresses to new pages
    • Keep Shopify running until sign-off
    • Change the domain and check live orders

Check first: Where the domain is registered and who holds the login.

Next: Tell us who looks after hosting today and which pages bring orders.

In plain terms

Staging copy
A private duplicate of the new shop used for testing before launch.
Redirect
An instruction that sends visitors from an old address to the new one.
Variation
A WooCommerce product choice, such as a size in a colour, with its own price and stock.

02Decide

What does your Shopify store hold?

Shopify's product file repeats a URL handle (the last part of a product address) on every variant row and lists images one per row. That layout is a good start, but it does not show what your apps store.

  • If your Shopify store has

    A product with three options

    Then the WooCommerce plan includes

Attributes and variations built one by one, then checked for every valid combination

  • If your Shopify store has

    Images attached to single variants

    Then the WooCommerce plan includes

Each image reattached to the right variation and viewed on the product page

  • If your Shopify store has

Reviews, wishlists or loyalty points held in an app

    Then the WooCommerce plan includes

A request to the app provider for an export, and a WooCommerce extension to display them

  • If your Shopify store has

    Gift cards and discount codes

    Then the WooCommerce plan includes

A decision on whether balances carry on, are honoured another way or are closed

  • If your Shopify store has

    Customer accounts

    Then the WooCommerce plan includes

A reset email, because we do not assume Shopify passwords can travel

03Rebuild

What needs rebuilding in WordPress

The Shopify theme does not move. We build a WordPress and WooCommerce design that follows the layouts you want to keep, using the old store as a reference rather than a template to copy.

  1. Checkout is the largest change. Payment gateways, tax rules, shipping zones and order emails are set up fresh in WooCommerce. We also settle who handles the new responsibilities: a hosting plan, plugin updates, backups and security checks. We cover the build in WooCommerce Development and the continuing care in Ecommerce Management.
  2. Orders placed while the new shop is being built need a plan too. We agree a stopping point for the Shopify store and a final import of anything placed since the sample run.

04Test

Test a three-option product and a refund

We rehearse on a staging copy (a private duplicate of the site used for testing) before any customer sees it.

  1. Take a product with three options and a variant image, and compare every combination, price and stock figure with Shopify.
  2. Add an item that depends on an app today, such as a custom engraving field, and check it reaches the order.
  3. Place a test order with each payment gateway, to a delivery address in every shipping zone you serve.
  4. Refund part of the order and confirm stock, emails and the customer record update.
  5. Ask a member of staff to edit a price and a product description without help.

05Launch

Keep Shopify addresses useful at launch

Shopify product and collection addresses will differ from WooCommerce ones, so we map each important old address to a new page and set up redirects (instructions that send visitors from the old address to the new).

  • Keep your Shopify plan active until the new shop is approved and the domain has changed.
  • We then monitor search performance and incoming orders; the move does not promise unchanged rankings.

Questions about Shopify to WooCommerce

Can I bring my Shopify theme with me?

No. Themes are built for Shopify, so the design is rebuilt for WordPress. We agree which parts of the look stay familiar.

Will WooCommerce remove my monthly running costs?

No. Hosting, extensions, payment fees and care still need paying for, and we review them for your setup.

Does the order history come across?

It depends on what your Shopify export contains. We check the export first and say what can be imported and what should be archived.

Can you look after the store afterwards?

Yes. Ongoing management can be scoped separately from the build.
