01Choose

Choose what you want to change

Tell us what is holding the site back: how it is edited, how it looks or where it runs. Tick one part or several and see a plan you can take into a call.

Where this startsOur website is hard to edit, looks dated or sits on a host we do not trust, and we are not sure what kind of move would actually fix it.

Choose one part, several parts or the whole project
  • An audit of pages, features, forms and web addresses
  • A platform recommendation with the reasons for it
  • The build or content move, with samples checked along the way
  • Testing, launch support and a search monitoring plan

Check first: We confirm what the site must keep doing on launch day.

Next: Bring the site address, your main problem and the pages you cannot lose.

    • A list of what your team struggles to do on the current site
    • Which platforms fit those tasks, and which would add new limits
    • A check on whether the problem is the platform or only the host
    • A short recommendation you can take to your own decision-makers

Check first: We confirm which platform the site runs on now and who can log in to it.

Next: Send the site address and a note of the three jobs your team finds hardest.

    • A page list showing what stays, what is merged and what is retired
    • A new layout for the page types that matter most
    • Text and images checked page by page after the move
    • A map from old web addresses to new ones

Check first: We confirm which pages bring visitors or enquiries today, so they are moved with care.

Next: Share your page list or sitemap and any pages you already plan to drop.

    • A check that the platform allows the site to run on another host
    • Who controls the domain and its settings today
    • A rehearsal copy of the site on the new host before the switch
    • A plan for email and other services tied to the domain

Check first: We confirm whether your platform lets the site be hosted elsewhere at all.

Next: Send your host name, domain registrar and a list of services using your domain.

    • A product data check using a few difficult products as samples
    • A decision on order history and customer accounts
    • Payment, delivery and tax settings listed for the new store
    • A test purchase on the agreed buying journey

Check first: We confirm which records you need to keep, such as orders and customer accounts.

Next: Send the store address and the extensions or apps your shop depends on.

In plain terms

Hosting
The server that stores your site and shows it to visitors.

02Kind of move

Pick the kind of move that fits the problem

Most projects fall into one of a few moves. If the answer is a fresh build, our Custom Website Design service covers it; if you want a separate front end with a content system behind it, see Headless CMS Development.

Every edit needs a developer

Kind of move

Platform change

What changes

The system that holds and edits your pages

The site works but looks dated

Kind of move

Redesign with content move

What changes

Layout and style; text and images are carried across

The site is slow or the host is unreliable

Kind of move

Hosting move

What changes

The server only; platform and design stay

Pages are hand-written files nobody dares edit

Kind of move

Platform change from files

What changes

Files become a managed, editable site

You also sell products online

Kind of move

Shop migration

What changes

Catalogue and checkout, planned separately

03Exports

What each platform lets you take with you

Each platform exports different things, so we check this before agreeing a plan.

WordPress

What its own export gives you

An XML file of posts, pages, custom content types, categories and menus

What you rebuild

Design, plugins, settings and the media files themselves

Wix

What its own export gives you

Collection data as a CSV file, but no complete working site

What you rebuild

The site on the new platform; blog posts by copying

Webflow

What its own export gives you

A ZIP of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images, on paid Workspace plans

What you rebuild

CMS content, form handling, site search and shop

Squarespace

What its own export gives you

An XML file in WordPress format for some pages and blog content

What you rebuild

Store pages, style settings, custom CSS and many block types

Hand-written HTML sites have no export file, so we work from your files and live pages: see HTML to WordPress Migration, HTML to Wix Migration or HTML to Webflow Migration. Leaving Wix? See Wix to WordPress Migration.

04Routes

Find your route by starting point

Pick the card that matches where the site is now, then open the route page for your exact platform pair. Each route page explains what moves, what is rebuilt and what to check before launch.

Staying on WordPress? A new host, a network split or a page-builder replacement is covered by WordPress Migration Services. Moving a shop between platforms is covered by Ecommerce Migration Services.

05Testing

Check one page of every kind before launch

  1. Choose one page of each layout, your longest article and a page with a form.
  2. Compare text, images and links with the old page side by side.
  3. Submit every form and confirm who receives the message.
  4. Open each sample on a phone and a desktop screen.
  5. Ask someone on your team to edit a page without our help.

06Launch

Keep old addresses working and agree who does what

Each old page address either stays the same or gets a redirect (an instruction that sends visitors from an old address to the new one). We build a map from old to new addresses and point each one straight to its final page, with no chains.

Google says search visibility can fluctuate during a move, so we monitor search performance after launch and do not promise rankings stay the same. Your domain (the web address) and hosting (the server that shows the pages) are separate things. We agree who changes the domain settings, who tests and who signs off.

Questions about website migration

Is changing platform the same as changing host?

No. A platform change replaces the system that builds and edits the site; a hosting move changes only the server. Some platforms, such as Wix, run only on their own servers, so for them the two go together.

Do I have to redesign at the same time?

No. We can keep your design, but a new platform often means rebuilding the layout, so we tell you first what is reusable.

Can you move only part of the site?

Yes. A blog, a shop or one section can move on its own if the navigation and addresses between the old and new parts are planned.

Will my search results stay the same?

Not automatically. Redirects and careful mapping help, but no one can promise unchanged rankings.
