Ecommerce SEO

Help shoppers find the right products and understand what they are buying. Our ecommerce SEO work connects the catalogue, website structure and product information with relevant searches.

01Page Roles

Give each type of page a useful role

A category helps someone explore a range. A product page explains a particular item and its available options. Buying guidance answers a question that needs more detail.

We assess those roles before adding pages. Repeating product information across several near-identical destinations can make the store harder to manage and the customer's choice less clear.

02Catalogue

Start with catalogue structure

Product naming, categories and attributes should reflect the actual catalogue. We review how shoppers move between those elements and which pages need to be reachable from navigation or contextual links.

Your product knowledge supplies the details that cannot safely be guessed: specifications, suitability, options and limitations. SEO copy needs to preserve that accuracy.

03Priorities

Decide which pages deserve attention

Question to ask

Possible next step

Review access and indexing treatment

Question to ask

Is it returning, replaced or discontinued?

Possible next step

Choose a customer-friendly page treatment

These are assessment questions, not automatic instructions to index or remove pages. The store's functionality and current search evidence matter to the decision.

Take a fictional example. A store sells the Alder Trail Jacket in four colours and three sizes. One product page with selectable options usually serves shoppers well. A separate page for each colour is worth considering only if people search for the colour by name and that page can carry its own images and stock status. A filtered view such as jackets under a set price is a browsing state, so it is not a page to promote unless it answers a search people actually make.

05Platforms

Work with your store platform

For a Shopify store, we review how collections, product options, theme output and installed apps affect the pages shoppers and search engines can reach. For WooCommerce, the review includes the chosen theme, extensions and WordPress setup as well as the catalogue.

The SEO task remains finding useful search destinations and improving their information. Platform-specific settings and dependencies determine how the agreed changes are implemented; store development and daily catalogue management remain separate scopes.

06Product Data

Keep product data consistent for search and Merchant Center

Product details are read in several places: the product page, its structured data and, if you use Google Merchant Center, the product feed. Google requires submitted product data to match the landing page and checkout, and says free listings can appear without ad spend but are not guaranteed to show. Free listings need a Merchant Center account, complete product data and shipping settings in many countries.

We also check which route supplies the feed, whether a platform integration, a plugin or a file, and how often it refreshes. Advertising campaigns that use the same product data are managed under PPC Management; this work covers the data and pages they depend on.

07Flags

When Google flags a product

A disapproval or warning is a message about one product, not a verdict on the store. Our working order is:

  1. Read the Merchant Center issue and list the affected products.
  2. Compare the live page with the feed: price, availability, identifiers, image and policy-sensitive wording.
  3. Trace the mismatch to its source, such as a platform field, an app or the feed route.
  4. Correct it at the source, refresh the feed and recheck the status.
  5. Where a policy decision remains, prepare the response or appeal for your approval.

Google decides whether a product is approved. We do not promise approval, impressions or position.

08Reporting

Measure the work in context

The review can consider relevant search visits, landing pages and recorded shopping actions where tracking permits. A catalogue edit and a completed sale remain different observations.

We use the information to decide what deserves attention next, without promising that a particular position or sales target will follow.

Questions about ecommerce SEO

Is this the same as product listing management?

No. Catalogue management maintains selling information; ecommerce SEO considers how the website's pages and structure support relevant organic discovery. The tasks can connect.

Do you manage Google Shopping ads?

Paid campaigns sit with PPC Management. Ecommerce SEO covers the product data and store pages those campaigns and free listings rely on.

Does every variation need its own page?

Not automatically. The product, platform behaviour and distinct customer need must be assessed.

Can you work with our existing store?

Yes. We start with its current catalogue, structure and priorities before proposing changes.
