Did your Google business profile get suspended? If you appeal, Google's help page invites you to attach optional evidence, and many owners are not sure which documents to use. This article lists the evidence Google's current appeal instructions mention (checked on 3 October 2026), so you can prepare it before you submit.
Verification and appeal evidence are different tasks
Verification is how you prove you manage a Business Profile. Google decides which method is offered for each profile (for example phone or text, email, a live video call, a video recording or a postcard), and you cannot change it. These methods rely on a code, a recording or a live call rather than a pack of registration documents, although Google may ask for more information in some cases. For the steps, see Google's page Verify your business on Google.
A suspension appeal is a different process, used when Google has suspended or disabled a profile for not following its guidelines. The documents below are the optional evidence Google describes for that appeal, in its help page Fix suspended or disabled profiles. They do not replace the verification method Google offers, and they do not guarantee that a profile is reinstated.
Before you appeal
- Check that the profile follows Google's guidelines. Google asks you to do this before you submit an appeal.
- Use the Google Business Profile appeals tool while signed in to the Google Account linked to the profile.
- Do not create a new Business Profile for the same business while the appeal is under review.
- If you open the evidence form after submitting the appeal, Google says you must submit it within 60 minutes or the evidence will not be attached, so have your files ready first.
Documents Google lists as appeal evidence
Option 1: Business Registration/License
- The document should show your business name and address.
- The name and address should match the profile you are appealing for.
- Forms Google lists:
- Official business registration,
- Business license, or
- Tax certificates.
Option 2: Utility Bill
- The bill should be for the business and show the same business name and address as the profile.
- Utility types Google lists today:
- Electricity
- Phone
- Water
- Internet
Some older lists also include gas, sewage, trash, recycling and TV bills. Google's current appeal page does not list those, so check its page before relying on them.
What to keep in mind
- Evidence is optional, but Google says that submitting it can strengthen an appeal. The appeal decision is Google's, and Google emails you the result.
- Keep your business details consistent between the documents and the profile: the same name and address in each place.
- Requirements can vary by business and situation and can change, so follow the instructions shown in the appeals tool and on Google's help page.
- If an appeal is denied, Google's help page describes a way to request an additional review with further evidence.
