Many business owners search for a way to skip video verification on a new Google Business Profile. This article explains what is actually going on, why there is no supported bypass, and what to do instead. For the step-by-step preparation, read our practical Google Business Profile Verification Guide.
Updated on 3 October 2026. An earlier version of this article described a multi-step workaround. We removed it because it is not supported by Google's documentation.
The Myth of Skipping Video Verification
Some guides promise that a set of steps, such as building citations, adding a business from a second email address, collecting reviews and then claiming the profile with a particular account, will let you avoid video verification. Google does not document any such route. These steps are not verification methods, and following them does not guarantee that a different method will appear in your account.
Creating a profile from another account in order to get around a method can also leave you with duplicate or conflicting profiles that then need to be sorted out, which is a bigger problem than the one you started with.
Who Decides How You Verify
Google decides which verification methods are available for a Business Profile. Google's Business Profile Help states that verification methods are determined automatically by Google and cannot be changed. Depending on the business, the options Google lists include phone or text, email, a live video call, mail (not available everywhere) and, where it applies, instant verification through Google Search Console. A video recording is another method Google may ask for, and Google's help page notes it is available to businesses with a storefront, a service area or both, but not to online-only businesses.
You cannot choose a method that your account does not show, and neither can an agency. Some businesses may be asked for more than one check.
What About Search Console Instant Verification?
Google lists instant verification through Search Console as one of its methods. It is not a nine-step shortcut and it is not available to everyone. It depends on what Google offers for your profile and on whether the account you use already has verified ownership of the website in Search Console. If Google offers it in your account, follow the instructions shown there. If it does not appear, there is no step you can take to force it.
What to Do Instead
- Use the method your account offers. Read the instructions for that method in your Business Profile and follow them exactly.
- Prepare accurate business information. The details used for verification should match the real business, including the name, address or service area and website. Our guide explains how to prepare, including what to show if Google asks for a video.
- If no method works, contact Google Business Profile support. Google's help pages direct people who cannot complete verification to its support team. Describe the stage you reached and any message you see.
Good website, NAP and listing consistency is still worth the effort for local SEO, but it is not a substitute for verification, and it does not change which method Google offers.
No Bypass and No Guarantee
There is no supported way to skip a verification method that Google requires, and no one can guarantee that a profile will be approved or by when. Passing verification also does not guarantee rankings. Verification confirms that you manage the business, while search visibility depends on other factors.
